March 4, 2012 (Sunday): Newly Opened French Galleries and Piano Concert at the National Gallery of Art (NGA) -- 3:30 PM

Join other CGS members for a tour of the newly opened galleries devoted to impressionism and post-impressionism at the NGA followed by a duo-piano concert of music by Debussy.  Among the greatest collections in the world, the Gallery's 19th century French paintings have returned to view in a freshly conceived design.  We will meet at the Constitution Avenue entrance to the NGA West Building no later than 3:30 PM.  For further information and/or to indicate your intention to attend, please contact Dan Leubecker at 703-329-0194 or danielleubecker@aol.com.  Information on the exhibit and concert can also be obtained at http://nga.gov.
 
March 17, 2012 (Saturday): Heaven Can Wait at the Little Theatre of Alexandria (LTA) -- 8:00 PM

April 15, 2012 (Sunday): Walk from Old Town Alexandria to National Harbor and Return -- 12 noon

Join other hardy CGS members for this roundtrip 5 to 6 mile roundtrip walk across Woodrow Wilson Bridge and along the Potomac River shoreline with lunch at National Harbor.  We will meet at the entrance to the pedestrian path on Washington Street at the south end of Old Town Alexandria.  For further information and/or to indicate your intention to attend, please contact Dan Leubecker at 703-329-0194 or danielleubecker@aol.com 


April 21, 2012 (Saturday) at Pier 7, Washington, DC, 11:30am

 

Please join us for our annual membership luncheon at the Pier 7 Restaurant in The Channel Inn, 650 Water Street, SW, Washington, DC,  

(phone 202-554-2400).  A cash bar opens at 11:30am with lunch at noon.  Three hours of free parking is available under the restaurant/inn.

In order to encourage attendance at this membership meeting, the major cost of the luncheon is being subsidized by the club.  However, to reserve a place at the luncheon you must send a check for $5.00 made out to Capital Golden Skiers and sent to:

Please mail your check to Therese by April 1 to reserve a place.  The menu depends upon whether we receive more or less than 45 reservations.  Guests may attend the luncheon, but must pay the full fare of $25 or $37 depending upon the menu selected by the club.

 

BIKING:
 
The Potomac Pedalers Touring Club (PPTC) sponsors bike rides at a variety of ability levels and is looking for you to join on one of their trips, regardless of the weather! For new or experienced bikers, joining a group of like-minded individuals is relatively inexpensive at a yearly fee of $35 for an individual, according to their new website, www.potomacpedalers.org. . Although some activities are free, it appears that many are for members only, but do check their web site for more information!
